CASIC UAV
CASIC UAVs are Chinese UAVs developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation CASIC, which includes several different types of UAVs.
Eaglet 3A
Eaglet 3A (Xiao-Ying 3A or Xiaoying 3A, 小鹰3A in Chinese) is a fixed-wing UAV in conventional layout developed by Beijing China Aerospace System Simulation Technology Co., Ltd. (中国航天科工系统仿真科技有限公司) of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. Eaglet 3A is primarily developed as a mean to assist locating missing people in mountains, particularly in adverse weather, and it has been deployed by mountain rescue teams in Sichuan. Eaglet 3A is in conventional layout with tricycle landing gear, and propulsion is provided by a two-blade propeller driven by a piston engine mounted in the nose. Specification:[1] [2]
- Take-off weight (kg): 15
- Wingspan (m): 2.6
- Length (m): 2.1
- Launch: catapult or taxiing
- Take-off distance (m): 50
- Ceiling (km): 10
- Endurance (hr): 2
Near space vehicle
Near space vehicle is a long endurance unmanned blimp developed by CASIC, primarily used as a platform to perform scientific exploration, including researches conducted for communication, meteorology, ground monitor, reconnaissance, electric countermeasure (ECM), natural disaster forecast and salvage in airspace at altitude of 20 – 100 km. Specification:[3]
- Ceiling (km): > 20
TX-1
TX-1 is a Chinese experimental UAV developed by Shenyang Xinguang (meaning New Light) Group Co. Ltd. (沈阳航天新光集团有限公司) of CASIC. Dubbed as flying saucer UAV (Die Xing Fei-Xing-Qi, 碟形飞行器), this UAV made its public debut at 7th Zhuhai Airshow held in 2008.[4] TX-1 has a fuselage that appears to be a cross between a flying saucer and a flying wing, and is powered by two jet engines mounted atop of the fuselage at the root of the single vertical rudder. At the airshow, the jet engines were projected to be turbofan, but this might be changed to matured Chinese micro turbojets as the program progress, if the micro turbofan engines are unavailable during maiden flight. TX-1 is intended to be a proof of concept UAV of STOL capability to reduce the reliance on the paved runway.[5]
