CCGS J.E. Bernier was a Canadian Coast Guard medium Arctic Icebreaker with a steel hull. CCGS J.E. Bernier's home port was St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Canadian Coast Guard used the ship from 1967 to 2006.
The cruising speed was 11 knots, the maximum speed was 13.3 knots. In 1976, it was the second ship to pass Victoria Strait after CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent.
