PlayStation Universe (PSU.com) is a website providing news and forums for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita platforms.

History

Launched in October 2006, PSU.com is an online PlayStation magazine[1] primarily known for its exclusive news and reviews for the PlayStation 3 console and PlayStation 4. The site features up to the minute previews, features, interviews as well as a wide variety of multimedia content.

PSU.com is a collaboration between UK entrepreneurs Seb Hayes and Kieran O'Neill.[2] The current site is an amalgamation of two former PlayStation sites (PS3Land.com & PS3Portal.com) which were launched in December 2003.

The site's forum members operate a Folding@home team (ranked #52 as of November 2008).[3] In February 2009, PS3Forums was redirected to PSU.com/forums; placing the forum under the PSU.com brand. As of April 2011, the forums reached the 250,000 member mark.[4]

PSU.com Version 2

On 25 July 2007, PSU.com Version 2 was launched.[5]

Version 2 features:

PSU.com Version 3

On 30 January 2009, PSU.com Version 3 was launched.[6]

PSU.com Trophy Portal

On 19 March 2009, PlayStation Universe added the most complete and up-to-date collection of all PlayStation Trophies on the web, featuring a large community component with user-submitted Trophy guides and difficulty ratings, as well as areas to chat about individual Trophies. The PSU Trophy Portal features over 3,500 Trophies from over 100 Trophy supported PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network games.[7]

New management

In September 2010, PlayStation Universe was turned over to new management.
