History

Canberra Secondary School opened its doors on 3 January 2000 with Mr Puvan Ariaratnam as its first principal.

Mr Tan Keng Joo took over the leadership of the school in 2006. Under his guidance, Canberra took a closer step towards its vision of a global institution of learning, collaborating in various projects with institutions from China, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia

15 December 2010 started the next era in Canberra's history, with the arrival of Mr Cheng Gee Hock Timothy taking over its helm. On top of developing students into individuals of exemplary character, another focus has been promoting a strong study culture so as to achieve academic excellence. At the same time, our staff also believes in continual learning as we want to be good role models to our students. Supported and guided by a good team of Senior Teachers, teachers are involved in professional development through various platforms.

Over the years, Canberra Secondary has carved out a niche of excellence in ICT and Multimedia, garnering numerous awards in Digital Media Production. In the Schools' Digital Media Award 2014, the school won 1 merit award in the Animation category and 1 silver award and 1 merit award in the video category.

In 2012, in recognition of the school's significant achievements in Digital Media, Canberra Secondary School was awarded the Niche status. In 2015, our school had the opportunity to produce Applied Learning Programme, specifically in Digital Media in Visual Arts and Design. This programme aims to enable out students to incorporate, organise and apply knowledge in different authentic contexts, thus gaining the ability to effectively contribute to the school and society.

For our Learning for Life programme, we have - Developing * AHHAS @ Canberra. Through it we hope to nurture our students to be responsible and concerned citizens who will willingly take on active roles.
