Carve the Mark is a forthcoming novel by Veronica Roth, scheduled to be published on January 17, 2017 by HarperCollins. It is the first book in the duology, and follows Akos who is kidnapped with his brother on a planet ruled by dictatorship.[1]
Background and setting
On March 2, 2015, it was officially announced that Veronica Roth had reached a two-book deal with HarperCollins. Publication of the first is anticipated in 2017 and the second in 2018. HarperCollins described the books as "in the vein of Star Wars, the story of a boy who forms an unlikely alliance with an enemy."[2] On May 5, 2016, the title of the first book was revealed and a release date.[3]
