Centegra Health System is a system of health care providers in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. It comprises four hospitals, two fitness centers, four immediate care centers, nearly a dozen physician care locations and numerous specialty care services. As of 2013, the system had over 4,000 employees and 500 volunteers.[1] Centegra has nearly 460 physicians on staff.

Centegra Health System is the largest employer in McHenry County, Illinois.

History

1910s-1980s

Centegra Health System was formed in 1995.[1] In 1914 a group of physicians obtained a charter for a hospital in the home of Dr. Hyde West in Woodstock, Illinois. The lead to the building of Woodstock Memorial Hospital on South Street in Woodstock, Illinois. Currently this building is used as Centegra Specialty Hospital - Woodstock. In 1956, Dr. Lee Gladstone built a clinic in McHenry, Illinois. The first and second floor included an emergency room, operating room, reception areas and offices for outpatient physician care. The ground floor had 22 beds. With rapid growth of population a new hospital was built in McHenry, Illinois and name Northern Illinois Medical Center. This building is currently home to Centegra Hospital - McHenry.

1990s

In the early 1990s, health planners in McHenry County knew they needed a health system to consolidate efforts among the two hospitals and physicians in the area.[1] Centegra Health System was formed when a new building named Memorial Medical Center was built in 1995. This building currently houses Centegra Hospital - Woodstock. In 1995 Centegra also built Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Centegra also began in the late 1990s Centegra Primary Care, which is now called Centegra Physician Care and features locations throughout McHenry County.

Huntley Health Campus

Centegra built in 2008 the Centegra Health Campus in Huntley which included Centegra Physician Care, Centegra Immediate Care and Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Centers. In 2011 Centegra announced plans to build a hospital in Huntley, Illinois on the Huntley Health Campus.[2] In 2012 the Illinois Health Facilities and Review Board approved Centegra's application for a 128-bed hospital. The groundbreaking is expected to be in the fall of 2013 for a new hospital and medical office building.

Centegra Hospital - Woodstock is a hospital in Woodstock, Illinois.[3] It is one of three in McHenry County, Illinois. Centegra Hospital - Woodstock was previously named Memorial Medical Center.

Centegra Hospital - Woodstock is a 135-bed hospital with an Emergency Department, General Medical and Surgical Care, Obstetric Care, Psychiatric Care and Skilled Nursing Care.

Centegra Hospital — McHenry

Centegra Hospital - McHenry is a hospital in McHenry, Illinois.[3] It is one of three in McHenry County, Illinois. Centegra Hospital - McHenry was previously named Northern Illinois Medical Center.

Centegra Hospital - McHenry is a 173-bed teaching hospital with an Emergency Department, General Medical and Surgical Care, Obstetric Care, and Physical Rehabilitation Care.

McHenry County's Flight for Life emergency medical helicopter service is based at Centegra Hospital - McHenry.

Centegra Specialty Hospital — Woodstock

Centegra Specialty Hospital - Woodstock is a 40-bed hospital in Woodstock, Illinois.[3] It is one of three in McHenry County, Illinois. The primary use of the hospital is for Centegra Behavioral Health.

Centegra Hospital — Huntley

Centegra Health System announced they will be building a 128-bed hospital in the Village of Huntley.[2] The hospital will be located on the current Centegra Health Campus at Haligus Road and Algonquin Road.The Illinois Health Facility and Services Review Board approved the plans for the hospital on June 24, 2012. Centegra is expected to break ground in the Fall of 2013. The hospital is anticipated to have all-private patient rooms, a full-service emergency department, a level II nursery, dedicated Women's Center, non-invasive cardiology services, and a helipad for transporting patients with the most critical needs. Centegra also plans on building an additional medical office building with the hospital.

Immediate Care

Centegra Health System currently operates four immediate care facilities in McHenry County.[1] The current locations are in Huntley, Illinois; Crystal Lake, Illinois; McHenry, Illinois; and West Dundee, Illinois. Centegra Immediate Care offers physician care for minor medical problems. It is billed as a physician visit, not an emergency department visit. According to Centegra you will see a doctor in 30 minutes or less.

Centegra Physician Care

Centegra Physician Care is a group of doctors affiliated with Centegra Health System and Centegra Hospital's in Woodstock and McHenry.[4] Physician's have offices in Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Huntley, McHenry, Spring Grove and Woodstock, Illinois. Centegra Physician Care currently has specialties in the area of: Back and Spine, Cardiology, Chiropractic, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Family Practice, Hospitalist Services, Immediate Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Occupational Medicine, Pediatrics, Phsiatry, Psychological Services, Rheumatology and Wound Care.

Centegra Sage Cancer Center

Centegra Sage Cancer Center offers radiation oncology and infusion therapy services.[1]

Centegra Gavers Breast Center

Centegra Gavers Breast Center is a division of Centegra Hospital - McHenry. Centegra Gavers Breast Center offers 3-D breast imaging, consolidated screening and diagnostic services, quality medical care and interactive systems to address all breast issues.[1]

Centegra Back and Spine Center

The Centegra Back and Spine Center is focused on treatment of the back and spine using Physiatry, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic Care, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Pain Management, Neurology Management, Neurology Services and Fitness Classes. Centegra Back and Spine center is located on the Centegra Health Campus in Huntley, Illinois. A second Back and Spine center is planned for McHenry, Illinois.[1]

Centegra Wound and Hyperbaric Center

Centegra Wound and Hyperbaric Center is a division of Centegra Hospital - Woodstock and is the areas largest center with individual hyperbaric oxygen chambers. The Wound and Hyperbaric Center is located in Huntley, Illinois.[1]

Centegra Weight Loss Institute

The Centegra Weight Loss Institute is an umbrella of Centegra Health System's weight management services. Services of the Weight Loss Institute includes weight loss surgery at the Centegra Weight Loss Surgery Center (a division of Centegra Hospital - Woodstock) in Huntley, Illinois, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Simply Weight Loss Nutrition Services, Wellness Programs, Diabetes Services and Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Centers.[5]

Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center

Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Centers are located in Crystal Lake, Illinois and Huntley, Illinois.[6] They are wellness centers that have a variety of amenities including fitness floor, fitness coaching, nutrition services, aquatics centers, Les Mills Group Fitness, Gymnasium featuring baseball, volleyball and pickle ball, Kid Zone, Tennis (Huntley only), Racquetball (Crystal Lake only) and towel service.

Centegra Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Clinics

Centegra offers rehabilitation, sports medicine, physical and aquatic therapy and chiropractic services at clinics located in Huntley and Crystal Lake, Illinois. The clinic in Crystal Lake, Illinois also features a Back to Work center.[1]

Del Webb Wellness Center

The Del Webb Wellness Center is located at Del Webb's Sun City senior living community in Huntley, Illinois. The wellness center provides health education, screenings and support.[7]
