Charlie Brown (Scottish footballer)

Charlie Brown (born in Dumfries, Scotland) is a former association footballer who played for his home town club, Queen of the South.[1]

Brown signed for QoS in 1948 from LMS Rovers. Between then and his departure he made 49 appearances scoring 19 goals.[2] However, Brown struggled to obtain regular first team football playing in an era having to compete with Scotland internationalist Billy Houliston,[3] followed by club record scorer Jim Patterson,[4] for the centre forward position.

As of 18 December 2012, Brown was the oldest known surviving Scottish ex QoS player and second eldest player of any nationality behind Ivor Broadis.[5]
