Chen Aisen (simplified Chinese: 陈艾森; traditional Chinese: 陳艾森; pinyin: Chén Àisēn, born 22 October 1995 in Guangzhou, China) is a Chinese diver. He is a double gold medal winner at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform competition with diving partner Lin Yue, as well as gold in the men's individual 10m platform.[1]

Early life

Chen was born in Guangzhou, China on 22 October 1995. He started diving while he was at primary school, selected for his potential in diving. He studied at Jinan University in Guangzhou.[2]

Diving career

2009–2012

In 2009, Chen Aisen teamed up with Zhang Yanquan in the men's synchronised 10m platform event at the East Asian Games in Hong Kong and won gold.[3]

2013–2015

In 2013, Chen Aisen won three gold medals at the FINA Diving World Series in the 10 metre platform synchronized events with Lin Yue in Moscow, Dubai, and Beijing.[4] He was also the silver medal winner in the individual events in Beijing and Dubai.[5]

In 2014, he won the Synchronized 10 m platform at the Asian Championships. He partnered with Yang Jian in the 10m synchro event at the 2014 FINA Diving World Series held in London and won gold.[6] He also won Gold in the individual event in Moscow.

In 2015, Chen was partnered with Lin Yue and won the 10m synchro at the World Championships in Kazan, he won Gold in the 10m synchro with Lin Yue.

2016

In 2016, Chen and Lin won four gold medals in 10m synchro in the FINA World Series. Chen also beat Qiu Bo during the 2016 FINA World Series in three out of four legs in the individual events.[4]

At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Chen and Lin won the 10m synchro. Chen also won the men's 10m platform individual title which China had not won since 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
