Christian University GlobalNet

Christian University GlobalNet (CUGN) offers highly discounted online academic courses and programs along with other digital resources for learners of all levels. Courses are designed for pastors and other ministry leaders looking to further their education, or someone seeking to deepen their understanding of the Bible and the Christian faith.

Courses feature the lectures of gifted teachers, authors, and scholars from a variety of disciplines in digital format thereby providing a large library of resources designed to enhance a person’s learning experience. These resources help learners from a wide range of interests and educational levels benefit from the best communicators in their respective fields.

CUGN exists to offer a first-class biblical education that can be applied to a certificate program or degree from affiliated institutions. All of the courses offered of CUGN are also offered for non-credit and for no cost through Our Daily Bread Christian University.

History

CUGN began in 1998 as a collaborative partnership among the colleges, universities, and seminaries of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The original vision was to develop online learning opportunities that provide students with Christ-centered learning anytime, anywhere.[1]

In 2009, the full archive of courses from the Institute of Theological Studies was folded into the CUGN catalog, thus allowing CUGN to offer a range of courses ranging from basic Bible survey through seminary-level education.

CUGN was one of the first faith-based online learning providers offering web-based courses and was designed to help counter the obstacles of relocation and affordability.

CUGN became an affiliate of Our Daily Bread Ministries,[2] (formerly RBC Ministies) in October 2002[3] and began offering free and low-cost Christian training under Our Daily Bread Christian University(formerly ChristianCourses.com).

Method

CUGN develops and delivers asynchronous online learning courses and other digital resources for parachurch ministries, churches, schools, and individuals (see Affiliates section). CUGN has a variety of delivery systems including the Internet, audio CD, DVD-ROM, and mobile devices. CUGN's courses have used material provided by Day of Discovery a ministry of RBC Ministries.

Statistics

CUGN courses have been used by more than 100 seminaries and Christian institutions/schools around the globe including most of the schools associated with the Evangelical Seminary Deans' Council. At present, nearly 1,100 students are enrolled in the CUGN graduate program and more than 50,000 in the certificate and free courses program through its sister organization Our Daily Bread Christian University.[4]
