Christoffer Franzén (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈkrɪstɔfər franˈseːn]) is a Swedish musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and composer from Gothenburg. He is known for his alternative solo-project Lights & Motion, in which he plays all the instruments and writes all the music, as well as produces and mixes. Franzén created the project in 2012 as a result of a longer period insomnia and gained worldwide recognition when his music was featured in Google's commercial at the Oscars in 2013.[1] His music has since been featured in multiple Hollywood trailers, fashion shows, commercials and TV-Shows.[2]
Musical career
Christoffer Franzén created the musical project Lights & Motion in early 2012, after having experienced a prolonged period of insomnia. The band have so far released three full-length albums, Reanimation and Save Your Heart both released in 2013 through the American independent record label Deep Elm Records, with the third one, Chronicle, released in early 2015.[3] In the summer of 2016, it was announced on Lights & Motion´s Facebook page that their 4th full-length album, Dear Avalanche, would be released in early 2017, through Deep Elm Records.
In 2016 his song "Stardust" was featured in the trailers for the film Rules Don't Apply[4]
In December 2013, Lights & Motion was voted as "The Best New Artist" in the annual polls by Post-rock on Facebook, the world's largest post-rock community.[5]
Outside of the Lights & Motion project, Franzén have released 3 albums under his own name, two in 2015, and Wide Awake in March 2016,[6] as well as having scored several short films.[7]
Equipment
Franzén has been a long time user of Fender Guitars. He has used the Telecaster, most notably, the 72 deluxe reissue and the thinline.
He is endorsed by Fender Guitars.
