Claudio Descalzi

Claudio Descalzi (born 1955 in Milan, Italy), he is an Italian businessman, CEO of Eni, the largest Italian company operating in the energy sector, Vice President of Confindustria Energia and Director of Fondazione Teatro alla Scala.

Education

Claudio Descalzi graduated in Physics in 1979 from the University of Milan.

Career

Claudio Descalzi started to work at Eni back in 1981, first as petroleum engineer and as project manager in the Oil & Gas field, for developments of North Sea, Libya, Nigeria and Congo. In 1990 he became Head of reservoir and operating activities for Italy.

In 1994 he was appointed Managing Director of Eni subsidiary in Congo and, four years later, in 1998, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Naoc, Eni subsidiary in Nigeria.

From 2000 to 2001 he held the role of Executive Vice President for Africa, Middle East and China.

From 2002 to 2005 he was not only appointed Executive Vice President for Italy, Africa, Middle East but he also had the role of Chairman of the Board of several Eni subsidiaries in the area.

In 2005 he became Vice Manager Director of Exploration & Production Division at Eni.

In 2006 he was named President of Assomineraria and he covered that role until 2014.

During 2008 he was appointed COO, Chief Operating Officer of Exploration & Production Division at Eni and he held that position until 2014.

From 2010 to 2014 he was Chairman of Eni UK.

He has been CEO of Eni since May 2014.[1]
