Coburg railway station is located on the Upfield line in Victoria, Australia. It opened on 9 September 1884,[1] and serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Coburg.
Although the line from Coburg to Fawkner was duplicated in 1959, Coburg continued to have only one side platform, used by trains travelling in both directions, until an additional platform (present day Platform 2) was provided in 1995.[2] A disused signal box is located at the Up end of the station, directly opposite the Munro Street level crossing. It was upgraded to Premium station status on 28 June 1996.[3]
Boom barriers replaced hand-operated gates at the Bell Street level crossing in 1962, with boom barriers replacing interlocked gates at the nearby Munro Street level crossing in 1983.[2]
