The Connecticut–Georgetown men's basketball rivalry is an American college basketball rivalry between the Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team of the University of Connecticut and Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team of Georgetown University.^[1]^[2] Georgetown leads the all-time series 35–30.

History

The first game played between the two schools took place on December 22, 1958, in Storrs, Connecticut. Connecticut won 76–68.^[3]

The rivalry peaked while both teams were members of the Big East Conference from 1979 to 2013. The two schools each won a record 7 Big East Tournaments.^[4]

The teams each won one of their last two games, and Connecticut won the last contest, 68-62 on January 23, 2016. Georgetown last beat the Huskies 79-78 in double overtime on February 27, 2013.^[5] The teams are set to meet again in Washington, DC in 2017.^[4]^[5]
