The Contractors and General Workers Trade Union is a trade union in Trinidad and Tobago. It was founded on the 9th November 1966 by the late Owen C Hinds. Its office is located at #37 Rushworth Street, San Fernando in the heart of the city. Motto "A Worker is a Worker" , song "Hold The Fort".This Union is the recognised majority Union for Daily Paid workers at the San Fernando City Corporation , Lake Asphalt of Trinidad and Tobago (1978) Limited Senior and Junior Staff and Weekly Paid Workers and also has other Bargaining Units. With almost 50 years in the labour movement, this Union's foundation is built with a wealth of knowledge and experiences, many struggles, many battles and many Victories. C.A.G.W.T.U. strongly promotes " A Fair days work for a Fair days Pay" and is committed to the fight for the rights of workers.
