Countable Corp. is a San Francisco based technology startup company. Its primary product is the Countable mobile app and web based application that offers individuals the ability to review upcoming legislation before the US Congress (House of Representatives and Senate) and express support or opposition to that legislation.[1]

The Countable app and site offers users a civic engagement platform and gives them ability to vote “yea” or “nay” for a legislation when a user is logged in through Facebook or via email.[2] The app automatically generates a message and passes it over to their Congressional representatives. In 2016, Countable introduced the ability to record a 30-second video message to elected officials.[3] It allows citizens to collaborate with elected representatives and find unbiased information on the legislation or any other critical issue.[4][5][6]

Function

It offers users a list of key legislation and gives them an easy way to keep their representatives informed and hold them accountable.[2] It gives elected representatives an idea about what voters are thinking about legislation on any critical issue. The app also allows to keep a track how the representative votes and generates a compatibility rankings.[5]

Each piece of legislation is summarized by Countable,[7] broken down by: Pro and Con Arguments, a short summary, a cost estimate, and links to additional resources including the Congressional Budget Office, the official Bill text, and notable press.[8]

History

The company was founded in 2013 by Bart Myers and Peter Arzhintar, founders of SideReel.[1] The idea of founding application came to them after selling SideReel in 2011. They worked on creating an app that can push updates through Facebook and launched it in November 2013.[9]
