Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law is a book authored by human rights activist Nonie Darwish.[1]
In the book about Sharia Law, Darwish writes about divorce under Sharia, which can be granted and refused only by a man.[2] The book also covers different punishments like beheading, stoning, amputation of limbs or flogging, which can be meted out according to Islamic law for crimes such as apostasy (leaving Islam), adultery, theft or alcohol consumption.[2]
