CubeSmart (NYSE: CUBE), previously known as U-Store-It Trust, is an American real estate investment trust (REIT) and provider of self-storage facilities.
History
CubeSmart was established in 2004, as a Maryland corporation. Established under the name U-Store-It Trust, the company held their initial public offering in July 2004. In December 2008, they relocated the corporate headquarters to Wayne, Pennsylvania. On September 14, 2011, the organization was renamed as CubeSmart.
Facilities
As of December 31, 2015, the company owned 445 self-storage facilities and also managed 222 properties for third party owners, in 22 states and the District of Columbia. [2]
According to industry magazine Inside Self-Storage, by total net rentable square footage CubeSmart is the fourth largest self-storage operator in the United States.[3]
