Cuixmala is located on the Pacific Ocean, on Mexico's Costalegre, also known as the Virgin Coast.

Cuixmala was originally designed by Robert Couturier, and was the private tropical hideaway for tycoon Sir James Goldsmith. It is now an eco-resort based on green culture and is still used by the elite. Its notable guests have included Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, Tom Cruise, George Lucas, and Madonna.[1]

On October 23, 2015 at 6:15pm (CDT), Hurricane Patricia, the most powerful hurricane to ever form in the Western Hemisphere, made landfall in Cuixmala.[2]
