Daniel Mannix Petrie Jr. (born November 30, 1951)[1] is perhaps best known as one of the screenwriters of the mid-1980s films Beverly Hills Cop and The Big Easy as well as the director of Toy Soldiers.[2][3] He is the son of Dorothea (Grundy), a producer, novelist, and actress, and Daniel Petrie, Sr., a Canadian-born director. He is the brother of director Donald Petrie.[4]

He also was the president of the western chapter of the Writers Guild of America in the 2000s.

He is co-founder of Enderby Entertainment.[5]
