Daniel Smith (born 20 March 1993) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a prop for Huddersfield Giants. He previously played for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.[1] He is the brother of fellow rugby league player Cameron Smith.[2]
Career
Born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, Smith played at junior level for amateur side Castleford Lock Lane. At the age of 15, he joined the academy at Leeds Rhinos,[3]
In 2012, Smith was on loan at Oldham RLFC,[3] where he made four appearances. He moved to Australia in 2013, where he played for South Sydney Rabbitohs under-20 side.[4] He returned to England at the end of the year, and signed a two-year contract with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.[5]
In 2014, he regularly appeared for Wakefield as a prop, and he scored two tries in 12 appearances. He also played one game for Featherstone Rovers on dual registration, scoring a try in his only appearance.[6]
In July 2015, Smith was signed by Huddersfield Giants on a four-and-a-half year deal.[4]
