Career Overview

From 2006 to 2009, Lopez served as Managing Director, Marketing & Communications at UK Trade & Investment, where he was responsible for delivering a new marketing strategy to promote the UK economy internationally.[2] Previously, Lopez worked at Barclays Bank for ten years, where he held a number of senior international positions, including: Head of Global Inward Investment in London, Director of Business Banking USA in New York and Business Development Director in India.[3]

From 2009 to 2011, Lopez worked for the London Development Agency, the Mayor of London’s economic development arm, as Group Director for Business Support and International Promotion.[2] During this time, Lopez was responsible for creating London & Partners, London's promotional agency for business, visitors and students and was its first Chief Executive Officer.

During Lopez's tenure as HM Consul-General, Lopez hosted TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit to New York in December 2014.[4][5] With responsibility for growing the commercial relationship between the UK and the US, Lopez actively promoted the expansion of high-tech US startups into the UK,[6][7] and facilitated collaboration between the tech industries of the two countries.[8]

In August 2011, Danny Lopez became an honorary trustee for BAFTA New York. In addition, since November 2013 Lopez has also been a Fellow at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce (RSA).[9]
