Dante Society of America

The Dante Society of America exists to "promote the study and appreciation of the time, life, works and cultural legacy of Dante Alighieri", the Italian poet of the Late Middle Ages.[1] The society was founded in 1881 under the leadership of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James Russell Lowell, and Charles Eliot Norton, who were its first three presidents.[2]
