Daudpota
Daudpota (Sindhi: داؤڊ پوتو) is the name of a Sindhi tribe in Sindh, Pakistan.
History
The Daudpota (Sindhi: داؤڊ پوتو) Abbasi's claim that they are of Arabic origin and descent from Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (566 – 662) (Sindhi: العباس بن عبد المطلب), (c. 566 653), a paternal uncle and Sahabi (companion) of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad as well as a progenitor of the Abbasi Khalifa of Baghdad and Qahira. They claim descent from one Sultan Ahmad, son of Shah Muzammil of Egypt left that country and arrived in Sind with a large following of Arabs c. 1370 AD . He married a daughter of Raja Rai Dhorang Sahta, receiving a third of the country as dowry.
