Democratic Centre (identified electorally as Democratic Centre – Strong Hand, Big Heart) (Spanish: Centro Democrático – Mano firme, corazón grande) is a political party in Colombia founded by former Vice President Francisco Santos Calderón, former Minister of the Interior Fabio Valencia Cossio, and (notably) Álvaro Uribe, former President of Colombia.[1]

The party is a big tent coalition of individuals opposing current government negotiations with FARC, the major left-wing anti-government paramilitary in the current Colombian armed conflict.[2] Although created as a decidedly right-wing party, its members now come from an extreme range of political backgrounds, including former politicians of the right-wing Colombian Conservative Party, the center-right Social Party of National Unity, the left-wing Alternative Democratic Pole, and the far-left Revolutionary Independent Labour Movement.[3] The party also includes right wing politicians including, among others, Luis Alfredo Ramos, but also includes a security-interested left-wing faction led by Carlos Valverde, a Marxist.
