Deran Sarafian (born January 17, 1958) is an American film and television director.
Life and career
Sarafian is the son of film director Richard C. Sarafian and the brother of Tedi Sarafian, Richard Sarafian, Jr. and Damon B. Sarafian. Sarafian is also the nephew of director Robert Altman. He is married to actress Laurie Fortier, with whom he has two children.[1]
Sarafian began working as an actor in Italian genre cinema, starring in the Bruno Mattei-directed horror film Zombi 3. After directing a number of low-budget B-movies, Sarafian entered into the mainstream by directing the Jean-Claude Van Damme action film Death Warrant. As a film director he has worked primarily in the action and thriller genres.
Sarafian has directed several episodes of the FOX series House and was made a co-executive producer of the series for the 2007 and 2008 season. He has also directed installments of: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Cold Case, The District, Without a Trace, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nash Bridges, Fringe, The Cape and Nikita.[2]
