Derek Fordjour

Derek Fordjour (born 1974 in Memphis, TN) is an interdisciplinary artist who works in video/film, sculpture and painting. Fordjour received a B.A. degree from Morehouse College and a master's degree in Art Education from Harvard University.[1] He is currently pursuing an MFA in painting at Hunter College.

Fordjour is the executive producer of The Black Sorority Project: The Exodus, the story of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The documentary is an independent historical initiative that is not funded, supported, endorsed or promoted by Delta Sigma Theta.[2]

Fordjour is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He was commissioned by Alpha Phi Alpha to create a portrait entitled An Experiment in Brotherhood to commemorate the founding of the fraternity.[3]

Fordjour is currently based in New York City. His work is in several public and private collections throughout the United States including Purdue University and Atlanta University Center.
