Diane Bryant is an American technology executive known for her leadership roles at Intel. She is the executive vice president of Intel’s Data Center Group,[1] which is the fastest growing and most profitable division within Intel.[2] The Data Center Group was responsible for 29% of 2015 revenues, and produces hardware components used in server, network, and storage platforms.[3]

Personal life

Bryant became homeless at the age of eighteen, while she was in high school. Upon turning eighteen, her father kicked her out of their home, as he had a strict rule that at eighteen years of age she should be responsible for herself.[2]

Bryant did not originally expect to attend college, and when she did, she became the person in her family to attend.[2] She started to take classes at American River College, then transferred to University of California, Davis.[4] She graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1985.[4]

Career

After graduating from college, Bryant began working at Intel in 1985.[2][4] She holds four patents.[5][6] She was a corporate vice president and the chief information officer at Intel prior to her current role as the head of the data center group.[6] Intel is well known for manufacturing computer chips within personal computers, and has recently diversified its business into manufacturing the chips required for computer servers powering cloud computing data centers.[7]

She is the most senior woman at Intel,[2] and in 2015, she was included in Fortune's list of 50 most powerful women.[8]

Bryant is involved in organizations that support women and underrepresented minorities. She served on the technical board of the Anita Borg Institute, and is the executive sponsor of the Network of Intel African American Employees.[1] In 2016, she was presented with the Global Citizen award from the World Affairs and its Global Philanthropy Forum.[9] She established an endowed scholarship fund for Diversity in Education at U.C. Davis.
