Disaster L.A., also known by its alternative title Apocalypse L.A. is an 2014 American disaster film directed by Turner Clay.

Synopsis

After a meteor shower strikes Los Angeles, toxic smoke is released across the city causing people to physically change and become violent. A small group of survivors plans to vacate the city by heading to the coast.[1]

Plot

The film begins with a group of friends at a house party in the Los Angeles area. As the party continues, a news broadcast warns of a group of meteors striking the L.A area with little concern of the event going on. As the party ends, John (Justin Ray) wakes up after a hard night of partying when a large crash is heard outside creating a small earthquake.

After John locates his brother Turner (Jerod Meagher) the two proceed back to John's house where Adam (Michael Taber), Scott (Ron Hanks), and Nate (Dennis Leach) are watching the news which claims that thousands are dead due to the several meteors crashing into Downtown Los Angeles.

As this is all happening crime and robbery begin striking the city as an ominous black fog fills the city making many sick in the process and a quarantine is placed on the city. As the smoke spreads from the crashed meteorites, the news explains that people exposed to the fog are losing their minds and turning into zombie-like creatures.

After Turner and Nate go to rescue his girlfriend Astrid (Ali Williams) they find her coughing and in the late stages of infection. The pair then bring her back to John's apartment as Scott attempts to treat her wounds. Astrid eventually succumbs to the disease and dies on the floor. After an argument between Nate and John, Astrid reanimates and kills her roommate (Kendall Mayhew). After a scuffle ensues they lock the decaying Astrid in the bathroom and decide to leave the apartment seeking shelter on the coast.

The group then makes it into a parking garage and finds several weapons while Scott goes to get his roommates keys. After going into the apartment Scott finds his roommate (Michael J. Sielaff) to be infected and runs to the parking garage. After a horde of infected begin to give chase Nate decides to fight back and is killed.

The pair, looking for a new plan, then head for Turner's car which is only a mile away. After John explains that he still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend the group splits up with Adam going with John to save Tori (Stefanie Estes).

After reaching her apartment, John tries to explain to a skeptical Tori and her new boyfriend Jake (Garrett Bales) that the city is plagued with zombies. After a radio broadcast explains that the city will be bombed in five hours, the group heads for the Turner's car. After realizing that he is infected, Adam, then decides to sacrifice himself from a swarm of infected.

The three then reunite with Turner and Scott and proceed to the exit of the parking garage but are stopped by a robber(Francisco Froes), who wants the car. After an argument between Turner and Scott ensues Turner believes that the best idea is to run the man over which results in both Scott and the robber being mortally wounded in the process. After the group try to help a dying Scott, Jake takes the car for himself and leaves.

Turner who is saddened by his best friends death then plans to stay behind but is convinced by John that the coast is only a mile away. Turner, with a new outlook decides to go with them. After going a few blocks they find Jake and Turners car destroyed. Jake, crashing into a pole, is found dead and the pair proceed to the coast.

While only a block away Tori hurts her ankle and cannot go any more. Two infected spot the group and Turner runs in the opposite direction to distract them. While Turner outruns two of the infected, he is caught off guard by one around the corner and is mortally wounded. Knowing he is going to die, he reaches into his pocket and stabs the zombie with a pocket knife. After bleeding for some time Turner goes to the top of a building and decides to stay there succumbing to his wounds. As this is going on John and Tori make it to the coast just as the military arrives and begins a major bombing campaign of the city killing most of the infected.
