Disha Vakani (born 17 August 1978)[1] is an Indian film and television actress. She made her career as a stage actress in Gujarati plays like Kamal Patel v/s Dhamal Patel and Lali Lila.[4] She has appeared in films like, Devdas (2002) and Jodha Akbar (2008).[5] Currently she is playing the role of Daya Jethalal Gada in SAB TV's show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.[6][7][8]

Personal life

Disha was born in a Gujarati family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Disha graduated in the Dramatic arts from Gujarat College in Ahmedabad.[4] She married a Mumbai-based chartered accountant named Mayur (same as her brother's name) on 24 November 2015.[9] Her brother Mayur Vakani is her co-actor in television serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and incidentally plays the role of her on-screen brother a.k.a. Sundar in the serial.
