Doddanna (Kannada: ದೊಡ್ಡಣ್ಣ; born 11 November 1949) is an Indian actor in the Kannada film industry who has acted in about 500 films. He started his career as a theatre actor. During this time and later entered the Kannada film industry as a character actor.

Early life

Doddanna was born on 11 November 1949.[1] Being the youngest son in the family, he was named after his grandfather Kadle Doddappa.[2] He started his career as a theatre actor with Vighneshwara Kala Sangha in Bhadravathi during which time he worked in a steel factory there. He, along with his friends formed a theater troupe called Gandharva Ranga. Later, he entered the Kannada and Tamil film industry.

Career

Doddanna is a versatile actor. He has portrayed villains, policemen and other characters. He has been especially successful as a comic actor.[1]
