Eoin (pronounced like "Owen", "O-in", or "Own", and sometimes spelt Eóin, Eoghan or Eoinn) is an Irish name, closely related to the Welsh name 'Owain' (anglicized as 'Owen') and related to the Scottish Gaelic name Iain. It is also cognate with Irish Seán, English John ('Jon' etc) and 'Ian', and Continental equivalents such as 'Jan', 'Johan' etc . In the Irish language, it is the name used for all Biblical figures known as John in English, including John the Baptist and John the Apostle.
