Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee

The Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee (Eleanor's Legacy) inspires and supports pro-choice Democratic women to run for local and state offices in New York. Eleanor's Legacy sponsors campaign training schools, links candidates with volunteers and experts, collaborates with like-minded organizations and provides campaign grants to endorsed candidates.[1]

History

Judith Hollensworth Hope founded Eleanor's Legacy in 2001. The mission of Eleanor's Legacy was inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt, one of the most influential Americans of the 20th century. On a state, national and international level, Roosevelt helped create new roles for women in public life.

Surely, in the light of history, it is more intelligent to hope rather than to fear, to try rather than not to try. For one thing we know beyond all doubt: Nothing has ever been achieved by the person who says, 'It can't be done.'[2]

Eleanor's Legacy invests in pro-choice Democratic women candidates running for state and local office and, often in partnership with EMILY's List, hosts campaign schools were women learn the skills they need to run and win.
