Elizabeth Plankinton (1853-1923) was the daughter of prominent Milwaukee businessman John Plankinton. In the early 20th century, Elizabeth was considered a leading Milwaukee philanthropist. She donated the 1885 statue of George Washington erected in Milwaukee's Monument Square and supported local artists and craftspeople. Citizens of Milwaukee affectionately called her "Miss Lizzie".
