F+F School for Art and Media Design Zurich

The F+F School for Art and Media Design Zürich or F+F is a private art school in Zürich, Switzerland. F+F stands for "Form und Farbe", a discipline practiced at the German art and architecture school Bauhaus. It means "shape and colour".

Overview

F+F was founded in 1971. At present, the school has 220 full-time students. The school is subsidised by the city of Zurich. Art studies at F+F have the status of a nationally recognised higher professional qualification (Art Diploma). Media Design studies are currently undergoing evaluation by the canton, with the objective of official recognition.

Teaching

A Matura (high school graduation) is not essential for admission to the F+F School, which means that this school offers an alternative to studying at one of the Swiss schools of applied arts.

Studies at F+F are practically oriented, but the student also acquires a sound theoretical knowledge of the subject. The F+F teachers are experienced, often internationally well-known personalities who are firmly established in their field. Each term, several of these experts from Switzerland and abroad are engaged as guest professors.
