Fairchild-Hiller Corporation

Fairchild-Hiller Corporation was a former American aircraft manufacturer and aerospace company based in the village of Farmingdale in the town of Oyster Bay, on Long Island in New York state. [1]

History

It was formed from the 1962 merger of the Fairchild Stratos Corporation, and its acquisition the Hiller Aircraft Company. [1]

In 1964 the name was officially changed from Fairchild Stratos Corporation to Fairchild-Hiller Corporation. [1]

Its division and subsidiaries included: Aircraft Missiles Division, Aircraft Services Division, Electronics Systems Division, Inc., Fairchild Aviation (Holland) N.V., and Fairchild Arms International, Inc.

German rocket pioneer Wernher von Braun was associated with this company.

In 1971 the company changed its name to Fairchild Industries. [1]
