Farashband (Persian: فراشبند, also Romanized as Farrāshband; also known as Farāsh and Farrāsh)[1] is a city in and the capital of Farashband County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 17,142, in 3,762 families.[2] It is located at an altitude of 775 metres (2,543 ft).[3]

farrashband is one of the Fars province city which is located 172 km west of Shiraz . It’s neighbouring from the north with Kazeroon, from the west with booshehr,from the south with Lar and the east with Ghir-Karzin and Firoozabad. Its height above sea level is 750m and its area is approximately about 59455 hectars. the climate is hot and dry,so the annual average temperatureis 25’c there.farrashband has a history of 1600 years.monuments left indicate this fact in this city.Despite of the great antiquity due to lack of resources and historical documents is considered less than other cities.people have always believed that the city was created during the reign of Bahram Gur(Sasanian period).monument such as the four-arched shows this fact.in addition, the region’s nomadic is created a beautiful space and the emergence of the hand-woven like Gabbeh,Glim and Jajim.citrus orchards,especially palm and Ghasb zahedi call into existence of the tourism prospects for this region.language is a mixture of ancient persian, lorrish(Bakhtiari-Laky)Mamassani &Kohkilloyehee.but some idioms is different from one village to another.also Qashqaee Turkish language is spoken there ,too.several tribes live in farrashband such as lorr, Tork and Tajik.nearly about 25000 nomadics inhabit for 7-8 month in pastures every years.Qashqaee’s include some tribes such as Amale,shesh bluki,Farsimadan,Ardkapan. furthermore,there are different tribes of Lorr like Nobenjani,Ghalesefidi,Bakhtiari,sadat fahluanisarruee and dashti….the rest of the population are Tajik tribe.It has natural gas resources & its economy is on agriculture,gardening(palm) & carpet weaving.there are several archeological sites such as1- Chahar Tagh gangi( four-arched) related toSassani period 2-Farrashband’s bath 3-Chahar Tagh naghare khaneh 4-ChaharTagh Rahni5-ChaharTagh Gonbad 6-wind mill 7-goldsmiths Ghallat related to Afsharian period ….most tourism prospects & religious area is cinsist of Konarmalek four-arched, tol gangi four arched,Zayerhosseini four-arched,Khormayak, Gonbad,Ghanatbagh,Rahni four-arched,Barmefarhad spring,Abpa spring,mountain park,emamzade holy shrine(Agham shahid)shahzade tayyeb holy shrine(zeinalabedin),shahaziz holy shrine (to baghi),seyyedAhmad holy shrine,seyyed mohammad holy shrine,Alibakhsi,pirgheib,mohamnad (khaniak),Agha mohammad(khorab),Amir shahsavar (dezhgah)&Abbolghasem(Dehram)holy shrines.
