Artegon Marketplace is Florida’s largest artisan marketplace, located on International Drive in Orlando, Florida, United States. Opened in 2002 as Festival Bay Mall, a property of Belz Factory Outlets, the mall was acquired by The Lightstone Group in 2011.[2] After an extensive remodeling and renovation, it was reopened in November 2014 as Artegon Marketplace. The property includes more than 865,000 square feet (80,400 m2) of retail space and is home to 155 stores offering clothing, jewelry, accessories, toys, art, home décor, etc., with an emphasis on local artists and artisans. Anchor stores include Bass Pro Shops, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, Sky Trail Ropes Course, Cinemark Theatres, International Hot Glass and Ron Jon Surf Shop. The tenant lineup also includes Gods & Monsters, the second largest fandom store in the U.S.; Putting Edge, a glow-in-the-dark miniature golf course; NYZ Apocalypse, a laser combat arena; and a mix of local and national food vendors.
History
In 2011, new owner The Lightstone Group announced plans to renovate and remodel the property and to transition its tenant roster from a traditional array of national and international retailers to one featuring local artisans and artists.[3] Chief Creative Officer David Miskin directed an overhaul of the original décor that incorporated original works of art, murals, and 3D installations into the overall visual scheme.[4] Miskin’s strategy included creating custom-built storefronts for individual vendors and staging live entertainment acts in the common areas. A multi-media marketing effort introduced the revamped Artegon Marketplace as “the Anti-Ordinary Anti-Mall”.[5]
The official Grand Opening event in November 2015 included an appearance by NSYNC singer Joey Fatone.[6]
Lightstone has announced plans to create a food hall and market in Artegon’s remaining unoccupied space. ‘Eat Street’, scheduled to open in late 2016, will include restaurants, local vendors, cooking classes and demos, and a weekend farmers market.[7]
