Fiesta Alegre fronton (Madrid)
The Fiesta Alegre fronton was originally a fronton, after served as basketball court hosting the Real Madrid Baloncesto, it was located on the corner of the calles Marqués de Urquijo and Juan Álvarez Mendizabal, in the Argüelles area, in Madrid, Spain.
History
The Madrilenian Fiesta Alegre fronton had been designed by architect Francisco Andrés Octavio Palacios, was opened in 1892, it had a track of 70 meters and a capacity of spectators important for the time, 3,500 spectators.
In 1952 Real Madrid it moved to Fiesta Alegre Fronton, also known as Jai Alai fronton. It was its home for nearly fifteen years. There were achieved the first European Cups.[1] While los blancos played in it were achieved, among other things, 2 European Cups, 8 Leagues and 8 Cups.
the white club remained 13 successful seasons there until the owners of the fronton decided to get rid of it and informed to the club that in a few months would be no more than rubble so no choice but to find another place, then was built the Pavilion of the Ciudad Deportiva, which would move the Real Madrid Baloncesto on January 6, 1966 after passing through the Colegio Maravillas. The Fiesta Alegre fronton was demolished in 1965.[2]
