Fight or Flight is an American hard rock band derived from two members of Disturbed in April 2013. The band is a side project created by Disturbed guitarist, Dan Donegan, featuring Disturbed drummer, Mike Wengren.[1] The band’s members consist of guitarists Dan Donegan and Jeremy Jayson, vocalist Dan Chandler, bassist Sean Corcoran, and Mike Wengren on drums. Fight or Flight released their debut single, “First of the Last,” on May 21, 2013.[2] Fight or Flight released its debut album, A Life by Design? via Warner Bros. Records on July 23, 2013.[3]

History

2011-2013: Formation

In 2011 when Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum Chicago-based band Disturbed was on hiatus, guitarist Dan Donegan began to intensely miss touring and recording. He began writing songs on his own and later reached out to Evans Blue lead vocalist, Dan Chandler, in attempt to collaborate.[4] When the two had enough material to record, Donegan approached Disturbed drummer, Mike Wengren, about forming the side project.[5] The three entered the recording studio, which resulted in a collection of songs strengthened by Donegan’s trademark riffing and Chandler’s melodies.

To complete the Fight or Flight lineup, Ra’s Sean Corcoran joined to play bass and back vocals. In addition, Bellevue Suite's Jeremy Jayson joined to play guitar and back vocals, completing the band.[6] Fight or Flight signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2013.[7] As Fight or Flight began as a side project, the band members quickly began to experiment with different acoustic guitars and electronics.[3]

2013-present: A Life by Design?

After signing a deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2013, Fight or Flight released their debut single “First of the Last.” The single began receiving radio airplay on May 21, 2013.[8] On May 7, 2013, Fight or Flight’s debut album,A Life by Design?, was made available for pre-order on iTunes, including an instant download of the band’s first single, “First of the Last.”[5] A Life by Design?, was officially released on July 23, 2013 via Warner Bros. Records.[9]
