Flying Lesbians

The Flying Lesbians were a seven-woman German music group which existed from 1974-1977 and released an eponymous album in 1975.[1][2][3]
Their logo was a double-headed axe. Their website explains that this is an ancient symbol of women's power throughout Europe.[4]
They first performed, to an audience of 2,000, at a women's festival in Berlin in 1974. They functioned as a co-operative, and for copyright purposes worked under the joint pseudonym of "Emily Pankhurst".[5]

The seven members of the band were:[3]

- Monika Jaeckel: vocals, percussion
- Gigi (Christa) Lansch: drums
- Monika Mengel: vocals, percussion
- Cillie Rentmeister: piano, vocals, harmonica, synthesizer
- Monika Savier: bass guitar, percussion
- Christel Wachowski: guitar, percussion
Album
Their 1975 album was re-released as a CD in 2007.[3] The lyrics of all the tracks are available on the band's website.[6]
