Forest Hills Northern High School is one of the three high schools in the Forest Hills Public Schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The district's two other high schools include Forest Hills Central High School and Forest Hills Eastern High School. In athletics, the school currently competes as a member of the Ottawa-Kent Conference Bronze Division (referred to as the "O-K Bronze").

Among other achievements, in 2007, Forest Hills Northern brought forth seven National Merit Finalists, two National Achievement Scholarship Finalists, and eight Michigan Math Prize Competition finalists. The boys' and girls' tennis, boys' cross country, volleyball, competitive cheer, gymnastics, hockey, boys' swimming and diving, boys' lacrosse and boys' and girls' track teams have all been conference champions. In the 2006-2007 school year, Northern's debate team won the Ziegelmueller Award for the best debate team in the state of Michigan. In April 2012, a YouTube video made at the school about a student(Balraj Singh) asking Kendall Jenner to prom went viral. The video attracted great attention to the school but was ultimately unsuccessful.

Model United Nations

Affectionately known as NORMUN (Forest Hills Northern Model UN), the team has recently seen large success in the international circuit of Model UN. It began with a revival of the team in 2010-2011 school year. It was only the next year that it exploded with a sweep of the General Assembly, ECOSOC, and Security Council at the late fall conference of Great Lakes Invitation Model UN. After that, the team's fame throughout the school and state swelled. When the University of Michigan Model UN conference came in January, the delegates representing Kuwait from NORMUN won the majority of "Best Delegate" awards. After that, NORMUN was easily recognized as the best program in the state for the year. However, it was at the Michigan State University Model UN conference that NORMUN secured a top 75 ranking in North America, and the highest ranking in Michigan, an extremely impressive accomplishment for a Midwest, non-travel team. This success lead to a trip to Beijing, China for the WEMUN conference, highlighting organizers including Harvard, Yale, Cal Berkeley, and Georgetown. Even in this grand atmosphere, the team emerged successful as participating delegates were all award winners (including a single "Best Delegate").

The program is notable for not only its success, but fundraising ability. Not only did it launch a campaign to sell candy to students for covering delegate fees for conferences, but the trip to China was almost completely paid for by donation.
