Fox+ Premium is a group of premium pay-TV channels founded in 1997 by LAPTV under the name Moviecity, dedicated to the exhibition of movies by subscription Latin America. Fox+ offers films in their original version, without censorship or dubbing.
It is currently owned by Fox Networks Group and operated by Fox Networks Group Latin America, who also operates other signs of the basic service as Cinecanal and Film Zone. Transmitted from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.
History
In Latin America, LAPTV test broadcast nine new premium channels plus two basic channels four premium plus two basic channels in HD additional services (VOD, and internet) channels channels, to the acquisition by Fox International Channels who became the operator of the brand.
In 2012 its competitor HBO signed with Universal Studios so start shooting films from 2014 to 2015 ahead from its channels.
In 2014 Fox+ stops broadcasting the latest DreamWorks Animation studio films, starting with The Croods forward by premium channels throughout Latin America but just are transmitted by basic channel Fox 2 years after its premiere on the big screen.
In 2014, Fox International Channels Latin America announced the launch Fox+ Play for multiplatform entertainment, the start of Fox+ Play service was simultaneously with the launch of Fox+ package. February 1. Innovation includes the redesign and restructuring of existing channels and premium Moviecity, Cinecanal, and the launch of Fox Comedy, without commercial breaks.
In 2016, Fox+ was launched in Brazil with two channels, Fox 1 and Fox Action, at a first point, dedicated exclusively to series, since the rights to the movies featured on Fox+ in Spanish-speaking countries are held in Brazil by Rede Telecine, part-owned by 21st Century Fox, Fox+'s parent company.
