Göksu Üçtaş (pronounced [ˈɟøcsu ˈyt͡ʃtaʃ]; born August 30, 1990 in Şahinbey, Gaziantep Province, Turkey) is a Turkish female artistic gymnast. She is coached by Mergül Güler.[1] She graduated 2011 as a teacher of physical education and sports from the Abant Izzet Baysal University in Bolu Province.[2]

Göksu Üçtas was meant to perform at the 2008 summer Olympic Games but failed to do so due to a severe neck injury which could have stopped her gymnastics career. She won the silver medal in the vault event at the 2009 Mediterranean Games held in Pescara, Italy.[3] In 2010, Üçtaş won the bronze medal in the floor exercise event at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup A held in Doha, Qatar.[4] At the World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics-Grand Prix Ostrava 2010 in the Czech Republic, she won gold medal in the floor exercise, silver medal in the balance beam and silver medal in the vault event.[5]

She qualified to participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics as the first ever Olympic gymnast from Turkey.[1] Due to an injury suffered during a training prior to the Olympics,[6] she could compete in the balance beam event only. With 11.333 points, with a d-score of 3.3 and an e-score of 8.033, Üçtaş ranked 77th, and did not advance to the final.[7]

In January 2013, she announced her retirement from active sports due to her long-lasting injury on her left elbow. She told she is going to return to her hometown Gaziantep, where she plans to open a gymnastics school.[8] In August 14, 2013, she married to gymnast Özgün Şanlı in İzmir.[9]
