At an event called "GANTZ: O NIGHT ~ @hiroya_oku SHIBUYA Mission ~" ran on 3 August, original Gantz creator Hiroya Oku appeared to discuss the creation of Gantz: O alongside its director Yasushi Kawamura, motion capture performer Asami Katsura, and a real life recreation of the Gantz orb with mimicked text based on the manga.[9] Oku stated that although he'd been dissatisfied with parts of 3DCG films, he was "surprised that the film met [Oku's] ideals".[9]
