Gayatri Patel Bahl (born September 21, 1987, in Nashville, Tennessee, United States) is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood movies.

Biography

Personal life

Gayatri Patel Bahl is daughter of Dr. Arvind Patel & Divya Patel and sister of Anand Patel and Radhika Patel;[1] She studied Theater and Economics at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She is fluent in English, Gujarati, and Hindi. She is a classically trained Kathak dancer.

She recently married Dr. Sumeet Bahl. Gayatri and her husband reside in the New York City Area.

Career

Gayatri Patel Bahl is an Indian American Actress residing in New York City. Before starting her career as an actress with the film Let's Dance, she performed in many competitions. During her time at Emory, she won Miss India Georgia. She was also first runner up in the Miss India United States competition. She had participated in classic English plays in college when she was in the United States performing in roles such as Irina for Chekhov's Play, Three Sisters.

After moving to India she starred in four music videos produced by Venus Films and starring herself opposite Jugal Hansraj.

Gayatri Patel Bahl’s debut movie in bollywood is Let's Dance. She has the nickname Dancing Tornado because of her ability to integrate many styles of dance.

Training

Raised in America she has taken training in Khatak from various teachers. At 15, she came to Bangalore and was trained by Maya Rao. In Mumbai she took training from Vijayshree Choudhary, who herself has trained under Pandit Birju Maharaj in Delhi for about 10–12 years.

For fluency in Hindi language she started training with Satyadev Dubey along with sitting in on Makrand Deshpande's rehearsals. She also trained with Veena Mehta, who trained the case of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.[2]
