Gilberto Valdenésio Fortunato (born 7 November 1987 in Florianópolis) is a Brazilian footballer who last played for KF Tirana in the Albanian Superliga as a forward.[1][2]

Career

Gilberto previously has played with Guarani, Bandeirante and Hải Phòng. With Hải Phòng, he played 21 matches and scored seven times.

In 2013, Gilberto was transferred to Hải Phòng by signing a one-year deal.[3] He scored the first goal for the club on 6 April 2013 in a 0–2 away win against Đà Nẵng.[4]

KF Tirana

In January 2014, because of the club's difficulties in the league, the donors took some players on a trial for one week, where Gilberto was one of them.[5] On 27 January, he was officially transferred to KF Tirana as a free agent,[6] signing a six-month contract with an option to extend it for another year.[7]

2013–14 season

He made his debut for Tirana in Albanian Superliga on 1 February during the 0–0 away draw against Kastrioti Krujë, where he entered in the field in the second half.[8] Only six days later, in his first Tirana derby against Partizani Tirana, Gilberto scored his first goal for the club, giving Tirana the first win after 9 consecutive matches; he scored that goal in 77th minute with an overhead kick, giving White & Blues the first win of 2014. He was later substituted in the 90th minute for Mensur Limani, receiving a standing ovation.[9][10] The lose caused the resignation of Partizani's coach, Hasan Lika.[11] On 16 February, during the 0–1 away win against Bylis Ballsh at Adush Muça Stadium,[12] Gilberto suffered a stomach-injury and was substituted in the 42th minute following a dangerous play from Bylis Ballsh players.[13] On 23 February, in the next league match against Besa Kavajë, Gilberto managed to score his second goal with Tirana and equalizer goal in the 16th minute, helping the team to win the match 2–1 at Qemal Stafa Stadium. That was Tirana's third consecutive victory.[14]

On 2 March, Gilberto assisted Ndikumana for the only goal of Tirana during the 1–1 away draw against Flamurtari Vlorë.[15] He continued with his solid performances by scoring twice in the 3–1 home win against Kukësi, helping Tirana to get out of the last place of the league while Gilberto scored twice for the first time in Albanian football.[16] After the match, the coach Gugash Magani praised his performance by saying that Gilberto is "the best player of the team",[17] while Gilberto itself said that he wanted to score at last 10 goals until the end of the season.[18] After his good performances since arriving in Albania, club's sponsor were ready to give him and Morina a new contract,[19] but however, said that he was not sure of his stance in Albania and one of the his strongest reasons were incidents during the match against Flamurtari Vlorë.[20] On 29 March, during the match against KF Laçi, Gilberto suffered an injury having a groin strain, which forced him to left the match, however, Tirana won 2–0.[21][22] After the examinations, it was confirmed that Gilberto would remain outside the field for 1 month.

On 8 April, he renovated his contract with Tirana for another season, also his salary was increased from 3,500 US$ per month to 10,000 $ per month.[23] However, only two days later, after he received an offer from a Malaysian team, which was several times bigger than the amount of renovation with Tirana, made Gilberto to require the transfer to the Malaysian team, which had not started the season yet. He immediately require to left the team, and strengthened it by not appearing at the club training on 9 April.[24] Gilberto made his return in field on 26 April by starting against Vllaznia Shkodër in a 2–1 win at Qemal Stafa.[25]

After more than a month, on 4 May, Gilberto scored his fifth goal of the season in a 2–2 away draw against Flamurtari Vlorë, helping Tirana to assured mathematically survival in Albanian Superliga.[26][27] During an interview with daily newspaper Panorama Sport, Gilbero said that despite the increase of his salary, he will go to the club that offers more money for him, adding that he had received no offer from any Albanian team.[28] He left Tirana after not founding a way for a new contract for next season. After leaving Tirana, Gilberto said that he had not requested any raising of salary and Tirana had made an offer of 95,000 dollars to him, that was later reduced, which according to him was brought non-renewal of the contract.[29]

Flamurtari Vlorë

On 11 August 2014, Gilberto was transferred to Flamurtari Vlorë as a free agent, signing a two-year deal with a salary 90,000 $ per year.[30] During his presentation he said that, despite he was a target of Kukësi, Skënderbeu dhe Partizani, he chose Flamutari after the club fulfilled his economic terms. Further, he mentioned his former team Tirana saying that there are problems and that they are not resolved,[31] but Tirana immediately responded in their official Facebook page by saying that the club has no problems.[32]

2014–15 season

Gilberto started the 2014–15 season on 17 August 2014, with Flamurtari who played in 2014 Albanian Supercup against Skënderbeu Korçë. He debuted with the team by entering in the field in 46th minute in place of midfielder Taulant Kuqi, unable to avoid the 1–0 lose at Qemal Stafa Stadium.[33] Gilberto made his league debut with Flamurtari on 23 August in team's opening match of 2014–15 season against Teuta Durrës, scoring the second goal of the match in 30th minute in an eventual 2–1 home success.[34] After four consecutive matches, he found the net for the second time with Flamurtari on 27 September during the 1–1 home draw against Laçi, match valid for 6th week of the league.[35]

On 4 October, in the match against Partizani in league, Gilberto suffered another injury and was substituted in the 62th minute in place of Arbër Abilaliaj, with Flamurtari who did not go more than a goalless draw.[36] After the examinations, it was confirmed that Gilberto had suffered a slight injury, but however, he was in doubt for match against the champions of Skënderbeu Korçë on 17 October.[37] He started the game from the bench,[38] and come in the field in 74th minute in place of Abilaliaj with Flamurtari who draw 1–1 at home.[39]

On 21 December, Gilberto played the 17 minutes of the 0–1 home lose against title contenders Kukësi, the last match of 2014.[40] Flamurtari ended the first part of the season 16 points away from the first position held by Kukësi and 14 points away from European positions. In personal terms, Gilberto managed to score only twice in 12 appearances, including nine as a starter. Before the match with Kukësi, Gilberto had agreed by consensus with the club to break the contract, to return to Brazil, where according to his agent, Alban Kashari, Gilberto has opened a business in his native country.[41] However, if the striker would choose to play for another club in Albania, then he should pay Flamurtari the clause of 100 million lek.[41] His departure was also confirmed Flamurtari's new coach Ernestino Ramella.[42] Two days after the match against Kukësi, Gilberto reopened the opportunity to play in Albania, after the interest shown by his former side KF Tirana, by saying that if the capital club wants to negotiate with him, the club must pay clause to Flamurtari.[43] He described his time in Vlorë as positive and also added that splitting of the team brought negative results during the first part of the season.[43]

Gwangju FC

On 14 January 2015, after he officially left Flamurtari, Gilberto moved in South Korea where he signed a contract with K League Classic side Gwangju FC.[44] He made his debut in second tier of Korean football on 6 March 2015 against Incheon United, scoring a goal in the 32nd minute, which was later attribute to Kim Dae-joong as an owngoal.[45] Gilberto later scored his first goal for Gwangju on 15 April, heading a cross from the left in an eventual 2–1 away lose.[46]

His experience in Korea was short-lived as he managed to play only in six matches, scoring once in the process. This made him to request a return in Albania, where he was a goal of his former club KF Tirana.[47][48]

Return to Tirana

On 8 August 2015, he made a great return to Tirana for an undisclosed fee,[49] taking the number 14 for the upcoming 2015–16 season, last worn at Tirana by Francis Kahata. His return was strongly required by the club's fans.[50]

Gilberto made his return debut with Tirana on 23 August 2015 in team's opening match of the season against Tërbuni Pukë,[51] and went scoreless in all eight matches that he played in the league, collecting 500 minutes in total. He also missed a penalty kick in first leg of the first round of 2015–16 Albanian Cup against Erzeni Shijak, but Tirana managed to win both legs with the aggregate 3–0.[52]

He scored his first two goals with Tirana in the first leg of the second round of cup against Kastrioti Krujë, contributing in a comfortable 1–5 away win.[53] On 3 November 2015, after the match against FK Kukësi, where he played the last 24 minutes of the match, Gilberto left Tirana after ending his contract with mutual consent.[54] He ended his second spell with Tirana below standards, scoring only two times in 11 matches between league and cup. In an interview, Gilberto said that he will never come back to play with an Albanian team again, saying that they (Albanian teams) have a lot of problems.[55]

PTT Rayong

On 15 January 2016, Gilberto signed a contract until the end of the season with Thai Division 1 League side PTT Rayong, and was presented to the media in the very same day.[56]
