Godolphin Atlantic F.C. is a football club based in Newquay, Cornwall, established in 1980. The club is affiliated to the Cornwall County Football Association.[1] The club competes in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division.
History
The club was formed in 1980 at the Godolphin Arms pub in Newquay.[2] Godolphin Alantic joined Division Three of the Duchy League and gained promotion to Division Two in their second season.[3] Ten seasons later the club gained promotion to Division One, finally reaching the Premier Division at the end of the 1995–96 season.[3] At the end of the 2004–05 campaign, under manager Derek Martin, the club finished as runners up in the Premier Division and gained promotion to the East Cornwall League, finishing third in their first season.[2][4]
After finishing as runners-up in 2007–08, they joined Division One West of the South West Peninsula League.[4] They were runners-up in 2010–11 and won the division in 2012–13, securing promotion to the Premier Division, where they join their local rivals Newquay.[5][6]
