Gordon Burgess
Gordon Charles Burgess, OBE (4 October 1918 – 3 September 2000), was a New Zealand cricket player and administrator.
Biography
Burgess was born in Waihi in 1918. He played seven first-class matches for Auckland. He was a member of the New Zealand Cricket Council from 1962 to 1971, and was its president from 1976 to 1983. He died in Auckland in 2000.[1]
In the 1989 New Year Honours, Burgess was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, for services to cricket.[2]
He was the father of New Zealand Test cricketer Mark Burgess.
