Introduction
Govt first Grade college is established on 29th May 2007 at Ankola. Now This college shifted to Poojageri which has good environment for the students. It is one of the famous college in Uttara kannada District. Present principal is S.V. Nayak. It has good library hall. This college offer B.a B.com B.sc and B.B.A and M.A in economics courses. GFGC Ankola is working under in Kud Department. More than 600 students are studying in this college. This college has good reputation in Ankola. GFGC Ankola is famous for its discipline and successful result.
History
Govt First Grade College Ankola was established on 29th May 2007 near satyagraha smraka bhavan at the centre of Ankola. It is started with new principal prof. Vidya D.Nayak who is HOD of Economics department. After few years GFGC is shifted to poojageri which is hopefully help to students.

There is special programs are in GFGC Ankola. Daily prayer is held in this college expect Thursday. Special Prayer is called as Assembly is held in every Thursday. This is the special program in this college. In this assembly many activities are created by students.
- National Service Scheme (NSS)
NSS is the Extra-Ordinary program in this college. NSS is managed by Dr. Geeta Nayak who is HOD of Commerce Department. NSS was started with an aim of creating awareness among the student community. Blood donation camp, first aid awareness program, guest lectures on health, cleanliness are conducted periodically. Every year NSS camp is organized by the college in some rural areas for creating awareness among people.
