Gowru Charitha Reddy (4 August 1971) is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh, India. She represents the Panyam constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh.[1] Earlier she served as a MLA from Nandikotkur constituency (2004-2009).[2] She was also a member of Women and Child welfare committee of Andhra Pradesh of Legislative Assembly.she left the Indian National Congress party and joined the newly formed YSR Congress Party.[3] Her Husband Gowru Venkata Reddy is also a politician who served as a Convener of Ysr Congress Party for Kurnool District.

Early life

Gowru Charitha Reddy is the youngest daughter of Suddireddy Malla reddy and Balanagamma, an agriculture family. She is born and brought up in Konidela Village Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh where she studied up to 10th class and did her intermediate and Degree in Nandikotkur Kurnool District.

Political career

Gowru Charitha Reddy became actively engaged in politics in 2002, prior to which she was a housewife. She beame General Secretary, Congress Party Kurnool District. She was elected 2 times to Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh.

In 2004, she contested from Nandikotkur (SC)(Assembly constituency) on behalf of Congress Party and emerged victorious Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy a two time MLA.

In 2014, she contested from Panyam (Assembly constituency) on behalf of Ysr Congress Party and emerged victorious over Katasani Ramabhupal Reddy, a five time MLA and Erasu pratap reddy, a Former minister of Andhra Pradesh.[4][5] [6] [7] [8]

Personal life

Gowru Charitha Reddy married to Gowru Venkata Reddy and the couple have two children : son and daughter.
